Earlier in the year, Derek Chisora lost out in a split decision after a brutal heavyweight battle. He had a strong start as he sent the New Zealand boxer, Joseph Parker, down to the canvas within seconds, but it was not long before Parker was able to regain strength and came back to triumph 115-113 and 116-111 while Chisora scored 115-113.

It wasn’t until the sixth round that Parker was able to begin overpowering his opponent. Previously the 37-year-old Briton had been punishing the New Zealander with onslaughts of right hooks and savage ferocity. Parker was sent to the ropes with a looping hook in the third round before again being attacked with thumping body shots in the fourth round.

Parker was finally able to halt his opponent with clean right hands in the sixth round and a flurry of punches from the New Zealander stunned the Zimbabwean-born Briton.

Parker was able to remain in command through the final rounds and Chisora’s last sprint of attack in the last round was not enough to avoid the defeat.

The 29-year-old from Auckland, New Zealand, was able to extend his five match unbeaten run and he will hope that a win on the weekend will edge him closer to a World Title.

Chisora has since returned to his old coach Dave Coldwell ahead of the rematch, while Parker has been in training with the WBC Champion Tyson Fury.
