The office mini league battles, the getting one over on your brother in-law by telling him to triple-captain Coventry City flop Wesley Jobello, the last minute switch of striker that turns out to be a stroke of genius - it's all back, and it's set to be better than ever.
No longer is the popular online game the exclusive plaything of Premier League fans, with second-tier simulation Gaffr now in its second season, allowing followers of the Championship to build their own teams made up of the divisions top stars who will gain points from their real-life exploits on the field.
Here's our rundown of some of the best signings you could make for your side:
1. Brice Samba - Nottingham Forest - £6.5m
When it comes to goalkeepers in fantasy football you have two options - get one who keeps a lot of clean sheets, or get one who will rack up a load of save points, due to the hapless defenders in front of them. Forest kept it tight last season, so Samba could be a decent option for a premium stopper. Photo: George Wood
2. Rafael Cabral - Reading - £6m
Right, we're after a team who can't defend with a half-decent goalkeeper. Reading's defensive record was fairly poor - but not disastrous - last season, and you can expect Rafael Cabral to be a busy boy again in the 2021/22 campaign. Photo: Michael Steele
3. Enda Stevens - Sheffield United - £6.5m
Slavisa Jokanovic is going to bring the fun back to Bramall Lane this season, you'd imagine, and Stevens could be given license to bomb down the wing and cause some chaos. At £6.5m he's a premium option, sure, but there's no harm in treating yourself. Photo: Catherine Ivill
4. Antonee Robinson - Fulham - £6.5m
You'd expect Marco Silva to tighten up the Fulham defence, and they could bring in a decent number of clean sheet points this season. Antonee Robinson is a good pick, given that he'll rack up a decent number of assists too. Photo: Justin Setterfield
