Team left with "broken hearts" after Spanish footballer, 24, dies in car crash on his way to training

There has been an outpouring of grief after 24-year-old Erick Lujan was pronounced dead after a car crash. The car the Spaniard was in collided with a truck on the A-1234 near Zaidin, Huesca. Lujan played for CD Belver de Huesca.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but the footballer, who was a passenger in the car, was found dead at the scene. The driver of the car was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Hide AdFollowing his death, his club, others and even the football association have paid tribute to the player. A statement from CD Belver said: “Dear Erick, I never thought we would have to write these words, and now we must do so with broken hearts. You were an exemplary person, both at the club and in everyday life, kind-hearted, never raising your voice.
“Your teammates and the management adored you, and now we are left devastated.”
A statement from the Real Federacion Aragonesa de Futbol added: “The board of the Real Federación Aragonesa de Fútbol extends its deepest sympathies to Erick’s family and friends during this time of immense pain over such a tragic loss.”
