Wales’ World Cup 2022 qualifiers: fixtures, kick off times, qualifying group table - and how to watch on TV

Wales are back in action as they continue their push to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Rob Page’s side picked up four points from the six on offer in September where they defeated Belarus 3-2, but were held to a goalless draw by bottom seeds Estonia.

There are just two qualifiers for Wales this month and no friendlies sandwiched in between, unlike last month, where they played Finland, prior to their two qualifying matches.

This time around, they’ll have to do without captain Gareth Bale who misses out due to a severe hamstring injury.

Ahead of these two matches, we’ve put together an information pack so you’re clued up ahead of what is an important month.

Who are Wales playing?

In Group E, Wales have an away double-header against the Czech Republic and then Estonia.

When do Wales play the Czech Republic and Estonia?

This week, Wales will jet off to Prague to face the Czech Republic at the Sinobo Stadium on Friday 8 October, before moving flying miles to play Estonia at the A. Le Coq Arena on Monday 11 October.

What time do Czech Republic vs Wales and Estonia vs Wales kick off?

Both of Wales’ matches will be played at 7.45 pm BST.

What does Wales’ qualifying group table look like?

Wales are currently third in Group E having played four games with two wins, a draw and a defeat, giving them seven points.

They are behind the Czech Republic on goal difference, having scored five and conceded five. Meanwhile, the Czechs have a positive goal difference, with eight goals and seven conceded.

Belgium are the runaway leaders of the group with 16 points picked up from their six matches, scoring 21 goals and conceding just four.

Roberto Martínez’s men are not in qualifying action this month, instead they are playing France in the semi-final of the UEFA Nations League on Thursday. When they return next month though, they will come back knowing that their place in the World Cup is all but secured - requiring just a point against Estonia to book their place in Qatar.

Below Wales on three points are Belarus - their only win has come against Estonia - while in their other outings, they’ve suffered defeat. Bottom of the pile are Estonia, who picked up their first point of qualifying with a draw at the Cardiff City Stadium.

How can I watch Wales’ World Cup qualifiers on TV?

Both of these crucial matches will be televised by both Sky Sports and Welsh language channel S4C.

For both matches, coverage will begin at 7.00 pm BST and will be available both on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football, meanwhile on S4C, it will begin 25 minutes later at 7.25 pm BST.
