Welsh footballer escorted off by police and arrested after scoring winning goal for Baglan Dragons

Video footage on social media has been circulating of police escorting a Welsh player off the pitch, just moments after he scored the winning goal for his team. Jordan Evans came on as a substitute for Baglan Dragons in their match against Cwmbran Celtic on Saturday, September 7.
Five minutes before the end of the game, police came onto the pitch and arrested the substitute, escorting him to the changing rooms. Evans had been instrumental in setting up one goal and scoring another, putting Baglan Dragons up 4-3 at the time of his arrest.

Hide AdSouth Wales Police have confirmed that a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft. They have since been released without charge.
A club spokesperson for Baglan Dragons said: “Baglan Dragons FC are aware of a video circulating on social media of an incident involving one of our players at Saturday's match. We would like to confirm that the player in question was substituted from the field of play on or around the 85th minute.
“The player in question was arrested within the changing facility.
“We can also confirm that the player in question was released by South Wales Police a few hours later without charge and with no further action. We now consider this matter closed and will not comment any further.”
The South Wales Police statement said: “Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft. He was later released without charge.”
