The 2022 edition of The Masters saw Scottie Scheffler win the first major title of his career with the 25-year old taking home the Green Jacket at Augusta National.

Not only that but the Texan also won a handsome cash prize as well as 600 FedEx Cup points to extend the gap at the top of the leaderboard to 1236 points.

However, there will be a chance for players further down the rankings to make up ground on the leader at the next PGA Tour event, the RBC Heritage invitational.

The 2022 RBC Heritage, or Heritage Classic, will take place from April 17 till April 20 and is the first PGA Tour event to follow The Masters.

Stewart Cink is the reigning champion, having won the competition for the third time in 2021 after previous victories in 2000 and 2004.

The event will be held at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and is one of only five tournaments given ‘invitational’ status by the PGA Tour, meaning it has a reduced field of only 132 players.

Who is taking part at the 2022 RBC Heritage?

Often with PGA Tour events that take place immediately after major tournaments, several of the bigger reputation players will opt not to participate and take a rest.

At the time of print, The Masters winner Scottie Scheffler is not scheduled to take part nor is runner-up Rory McIlroy.

However, Cameron Smith leads the pack of big names who will be at the South Carolina course as he looks to make up ground on Scheffler in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Collin Morikawa, who also had a strong showing at Augusta, is the current favourite to win the event with odds makers, while the likes of Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Cantlay and Shane Lowry are all also due to take part.

How many FedEx Cup points does the RBC Heritage winner get?

Per the PGA Tour’s website, the RBC Heritage cup winner receives 500 points in the FedEx Cup standings and the runner-up receives 300.

The means the Scheffler will remain top of the leaderboard regardless of the result in South Carolina this weekend.
