England have had little trouble against their opponents so far. Their first fixture came on 16 January and England bowled Bangladesh out for 97 after just 35 overs thanks for four wickets from Joshua Boyden.

Their next match was against Canada, just two days later, and once again England cruised to victory thanks to 93 runs from captain Tom Brest. The Lions made 320 runs but Boyden once again reduced the opponents’ score, and Canada were bowled out for 214.

In England’s final group stage match, once again Brest led from the front and knocked up 154 not out comfortably giving England a score of 362. A stunning four wickets from Rehan Ahmed ensured that the UAE were only able to make it to 173 before their final wicket fell.

In the Super League playoffs, England were to face South Africa and Dewald Brevis’ 97 off 88 balls would have worried Brest’s team if Ahmed had not once again, taken four wickets.

Jacob Bethell was the star batter for the English side, making a magnificent 88 off just 42 balls.

With South Africa reduced to 209 all out, Bethell’s triumphant knock sent England through to the semi finals after just 31 overs.

George Thomas, George Bell and Alex Horton all knocked up half centuries in England’s semi final match against Afghanistan. Despite 60 from Allah Noor in the Afghanistan camp, it was not enough to outclass the English side who have been storming their way through the competition, barely putting a foot wrong.

England will play India in the final of the World Cup.

India came top of their group stage winning all three matches against South Africa, Ireland and Uganda. In the Super League stage they came up against Bangladesh who they beat by five wickets before facing Australia in the final.
