Having been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 the “fifth Grand Slam” as it is often dubbed returns after a 31 month break.

Young British tennis star Emma Raducanu joins the top seeded players for this year’s tournament and will play her first competitive match since her US Open win in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open.

When is the Indian Wells 2021 tournament?

The Indian Wells competition takes place between Monday 4 October 2021 and Sunday 17 October 2021.

The day sessions start at 7pm BST (11am local) while the night sessions begin at midnight BST (6pm local).

How to watch Indian Wells 2021 tournament?

The BNP Paribas Open is available to stream through Amazon Prime.

Amazon Prime offers a free first month meaning that you can watch the duration of the tournament completely free. After this month, subscription costs £7.99 a month.

Indian Wells 2021 is only on Amazon Prime UK and is currently the only available option for those wishing to watch the tournament.

Who is playing at the Indian Wells tournament 2021?

US Open Champions Emma Raducanu and Daniil Medvedev will both be amongst those competing at the tournament, along with both Wimbledon finalists, Matteo Berettini and Karolina Plitskova.

Wimbledon Champions Novak Djokavic and Ashleigh Barty have both decided not to participate in the BNP Paribas Open 2021. Barty has returned to Australia and it is therefore unlikely she will play in any further tournaments this season, while Djokavic recently announced his disappointment that he would not be playing as he takes some time off after his 3 Grand Slam wins this year.

Great Britain’s Emma Raducanu shot to fame earlier this summer when she made it to the last 16 of the Wimbledon Championships having only played in her first WTA event in June 2021.

The teenager then went on to thrive in New York, winning the Open in Flushing Meadows without dropping a single set.

Raducanu was given a wildcard entry to this year’s Indian Wells tournament as well as a bye for the first round, meaning she will play her first match on Friday 8 September or Saturday 9 September in the second round against either Maria Camila Osorio Serrano or Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
