Floyd Mayweather vs Aaron Chalmers: fight date, how to get tickets to London O2 Arena bout, and boxing records

Floyd Mayweather has announced that he will fight his first ever UK-based bout next month and is set to take on Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers.

This new comes just days after the American boxing star announced he would be facing Liam Harrison, but the kickboxer had to pull out just six hours later due to a knee injury. This is now set to be Mayweather’s sixth exhibition fight. The 45-year-old has previously fought kickboxer and MMA fighter Tenshin Nasukawa, boxer Don Moore, YouTuber Logan Paul, MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura, and his most recent outing saw him beat YouTuber Deji Olatunji.

Speaking to the press after it was announced Mayweather would fight Geordie Shore and professional MMA star Chalmers, the boxer said: “I was originally supposed to face a different opponent, but injuries happen and I’m glad that Aaron Chalmers could step up so that we could give the fans what they want.”

“The fans in the UK have always been great to me and supported me throughout my career, so an event like this has been a long time coming. I’m excited to add more history to the O2 Arena in London.”

When will the fight take place?

The fight is set for 25 February 2023 and will take place at the O2 Arena. Taking to Instagram, Mayweather confirmed the date by saying: “Different face, different name, same results. London we are still rocking and rolling on February 25th at the O2 Arena.”

This is the same date as the rescheduled fight between Tommy Fury and Jake Paul is set to take place. This will now be the third attempt at the fight and it is believed it could take place in Saudi Arabia.

Who is Aaron Chalmers?

Chalmers joined the cast of Geordie Shore for their eighth series in 2014. Before hitting fame, he had previously worked on an oil rig but he has since featured on shows such as Ex on the Beach and the MTV spinoff series Geordie Shore OGs.

In 2017, Chalmers had his first MMA fight where he beat Greg Jenkins. He has a 5-2 professional record in MMA, winning two by knockout, and has fought in both welterweight and lightweight divisions. His most recent fight was against Austin Clem where he lost by unanimous decision at the Bellator 240 in February 2020. He lost in the third round in a welterweight bout.
