The final fight in the Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder trilogy will take place on Saturday 9 October.

There had been great anticipation for an all-British bout between Fury and Anthony Joshua, however Wilder’s team triggered a clause in a previously agreed-upon contract.

Joshua’s recent shock defeat to Oleksandr Usyk has also thrown the possibility of Joshua meeting Fury into further doubt as he will now face Ukrainian boxer Usyk in a rematch in 2022.

Who has won the previous fights?

The first fight between 33-year-old Fury and 35-year-old Wilder took place in December 2018.

It was Fury’s first real challenge since his victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 and his subsequent break from the sport due to mental health issues.

The first fight, which took place at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, ended in a controversial draw after 12 rounds. Fury was knocked down twice but three judges had three different results.

Mexican judge Alejandro Rochin scored the fight 115-111 for Wilder, Canadian judge Robert Tapper had it 114-112 for Fury while British judge Phil Edwards scored it a 113-113 draw.

Fury v Wilder 2, billed as Unfinished Business, took place in February 2020 in the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas.

This fight ended with Fury taking the victory with a Knock Out in the seventh round and consequently stopping Wilder capturing the WBC Belt. Fury’s victory meant that Wilder faced his first ever professional defeat in the ring.

This final fight has been billed as ‘Once and For All’ and will put the rivalry between the pair to rest.

Who are the Undercards for Fury vs Wilder 3?

Both fighters have won their last three games. Anderson is currently America’s top heavyweight boxing prospect, while Tereshkin has been boxing for 14 years and is coming off a nearly two-year lay off.

Kownacki will be looking to come back after recently losing to Helenius in his most recent fight. Neither boxer has fought since their fight and Kownacki will come back into the ring trying to prove his previous loss was a mere fluke.

Both Sanchez and Ajagba are undefeated fighters although it is Sanchez who comes in to the fight as their likely victor.. Sanchez, a tactical Cuban boxer, is no stranger to the big stages in boxing whereas Nigerian Ajagba will be looking to erase some recent uneven performances.

Ruiz enters this fight as the far more experienced boxer with 17 fights to his name and no defeats. Ramirez has only fougth in six fights with one loss.

Berlanga and Coceres are both right-handed orthodox fighters but it is Berlanga who has a more successful fighting history. He is undefeated in his 17 fights and has won 16 of them by knock out. Coceres has 28 wins, one loss and a draw but only has 15 knockouts to his name.

Williams will be undoubtedly coming in to this fight as the favourite to win. 27 wins to his name with only two losses compared to Hernandez who has 12 wins to his name and four defeats.

What’s been said?

Fury recently spoke about how referee Kenny Bayless may have saved Wilder’s life in their second clash, despite Wilder’s claims that the fight was stopped prematurely.

Fury told BT Sport Box Office: “The final stoppage one was where I was catching him clean, I believe the referee actually saved his life that night and saved his career.

“I am back where I belong and that’s it. There was no big miracle shock, it was like I was back where I was supposed to be at the top of the game, rated number one and back beating guys I wasn’t supposed to be beating.”

Despite Fury’s claims, Wilder has expressed confidence coming into this final bout.

In a virtual press conference, Wilder said: “I just want to beat his ass. It’s as simple as that. I want it back in blood. That’s up to me. Come October 9, I will get my revenge. An eye for an eye, that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
