Summer holidays 2024: Demand for holidays booms post-election with top destinations including Turkey, Cyprus and Canary Islands - see TUI's best late deals

The demand for holidays has boomed since the General Election with the uptick in search showing a “clear desire for a break”.

TUI UK saw search up for late summer package holidays by almost 20% and an increase of over 10% in bookings on Sunday (7 July) as Brits seek to shake off election fatigue and swap their voting cards for boarding passes. The top choice for voters seeking to escape to sunnier climes are short haul and mid-haul destinations in Europe with Greece the most searched destination and Turkey, Cyprus and The Canaries all seeing more than 20% increase in in web searches week on week.

The Midlands seems to be the region keenest to escape the ballot blues with a well-deserved holiday with bookings up 19%, with the North and Scotland both seeing significant uplifts week on week. TUI Managing Director, Andrew Flintham said: “After a season of debate and decision-making, we’re seeing a significant number of people wanting to recharge and reconnect with the world beyond the ballot box.
