Euston has been slammed as a “station from hell” and an “absolute joke” as more trains have been cancelled and delayed.

Flooding between Rugby and Milton Keynes Central was due to disrupt Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services until 10am this morning (Tuesday 24 September) according to National Rail, with numerous services cancelled. London Northwestern Railway said its Marston Vale line, which operates services between Bedford and Bletchley, is also due to be suspended until September 30 following the bad weather.

Passengers who were at Euston station this morning took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their frustration at services being cancelled. One user wrote: “@AvantiWestCoast why are all services Euston to Cov being cancelled this morning?!”. Many trains from Liverpool and Manchester to London Euston were also cancelled this morning. One passenger wrote on X: “No 6:04am Liverpool to Euston and 6:43 saying delayed. No one at station knows what is going on? Help”.

It comes as train services into London were recovering on this morning after flooding caused widespread disruption to the national rail and Tube network yesterday (Monday 23 September). Commuters were stood shoulder to shoulder inside Euston station yesterday with people reporting seeing megaphones and police being used for crowd control.

One user wrote on X that Euston station is “straight up dangerous” while another said it “has always been a mess” but now it is “worse than ever”. Another user wrote on the social media platform: “Euston is so unsafe.

“I give it until the end of 2024 before people are crushed or pushed onto tracks. Absolute joke station of hell”.

Avanti West Coast confirmed today that due to flooding between Rugby and Milton Keynes Central its trains have had “to run at reduced speed on all lines”. The firm added: “Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Please continue to check your journey”. Buses are replacing trains between Northampton and Milton Keynes Central.

The line running roughly parallel, between Banbury and Bicester North, is expected to be disrupted until noon. National Rail said: “Heavy flooding between Banbury and Bicester North means the lines towards London are blocked. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes, or diverted.

“Trains running towards London will not call at Bicester North, passengers should travel to/from Bicester Village. Disruption is expected to continue until 12 noon.”
