Cardi B announces birth of third baby with Offset amid divorce proceedings

American rapper Cardi B has announced the birth of her third child - an as-yet unnamed baby girl. The baby is also the third she shares with her estranged husband and fellow rapper, Offset.

Sharing pictures to her Instagram account on Thursday (September 12), well-wishers flooded the comments including many from her celebrity friends. One of the first to share their excitement on the happy news was Sean 'Diddy' Combs' ex, Yung Miami. She kept it simple saying ‘congratulations’ followed by a heart-eyed emoji and red hearts.

Other stars also keen to offer their congratulations were Halsey, who wrote, “Gorgeoussssss what a beautiful moment and a beautiful momma,” with by white heart emojis, along with Hidden Figures actress, Taraji P. Henson, who wrote in all caps, “Congrats baby” with yet more heart emojis.  

Kandi Burruss, TV personality and Too Hot Too Handle star, Harry Jowsey, and media personality India Royale all posted their own messages of ‘congratulations’ while rapper Somaya Reece said: “Issa wittle babyyy. congrats on your blessing. Sending many blessings to your and your beautiful family bendiciones it's a GIRL.”

The Bodak Yellow singer’s post included adorable snaps of her sweet newborn along with her older children with Offset, six-year-old daughter Kulture and three-year-old son Wave. Kulture was seen holding her new little sister while dad was captured cradling his baby. Cardi also posted photos showing her in labour and breastfeeding.

Despite the family photos, and being reunited with her husband in the delivery room, it is understood the pair are continuing with their divorce. According to TMZ, the couple are moving forward with their split, with sources telling the outlet they have never discussed not being around the kids at the same time due to their amicable co-parenting.

Cardi announced her pregnancy on August 1, just one day after she filed for divorce. She previously began divorce proceedings in 2020, but backtracked two months later. According to a source speaking to People, the latest filing is 'not based on cheating rumours, but rather has been a long time coming.'

A friend of Cardi added that the divorce filing is something that they had been ‘discussing and talking about for a while', saying: “It wasn't like, oh, she woke up one day, some incident happened, and this was it. She's been very calm about everything, and she's focused on her kids. She is excited about this new baby, and she's recording, so everything with her is actually pretty good.”

With the latest addition to the family, that takes Offset’s total number of children to six, by four different woman. Along with his three children with Cardi, he also has a 15-year-old son, Jordan, with Justine Watson, a nine-year-old son, Kody, with Oriel Jamie and nine-year-old daughter, Kalea, with Shya L'Amour.
