Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have fronted Strictly Come Dancing since 2014, but the pair recently announced they would be leaving the show and their last appearance will be on the Christmas special which airs on December 25.

On October 23, Tess Daly shared a statement on Instagram which read: “After 21 unforgettable years, the time has come to say goodbye to Strictly Come Dancing.

“It’s hard to put into words what this show has meant to me, so here goes..

“Strictly has been more than just a television programme. It felt like having a third child, a second family, and a huge part of my life since that very first show back in 2004. I knew then that it was something special, but I could never have imagined the magic it would bring.

“Strictly has always been about joy, celebration, and bringing people together- and I’m so proud to have played a small part in something that continues to mean so much to so many.

“From that very first series, I had the great honour of standing alongside the incomparable Sir Bruce Forsyth.

In response, Motsi Mabuse said: “I'm reeling from the news, Tess! You've left me speechless, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Sending you love and best wishes ❤️your absence will be deeply felt on Strictly. What an end of an era!” whilst Angela Scanlon said: “21 years. You are an inspiration. Your kindness on screen and well beyond. Your pure love of the show. Your warmth to every member of that audience- in studio and at home. An ICON. It won’t be the same without you 🌟 xxx.”

Tess Daly, along with her Strictly Come Dancing co-host Claudia Winkleman were made MBEs in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to broadcasting.

In 2024, Phoebe Kay told The Sun that “I’d love to act, but will leave presenting to my mum and dad. I’m just trying to understand what I want to do. I think you go to uni to figure out what you want to do in life. I’d like to do some work experience, as it’s hands-on, even if I start as a runner and work my way up.”
