Red Dead Redemption broken on PS5 as players complain of game-breaking bug in re-release

Red Dead Redemption has been re-released on PlayStation 5 - but players have noticed a glaring issue.

The new release of Rockstar’s 2010 Red Dead Redemption brings the game, and the Undead Nightmare expansion, to the PS5 for the first time, enhanced with 4k graphics at 60 frames per second.

Red Dead Redemption follows the fictional character of John Marston, who is forced by the Bureau of Investigation to hunt down his old gang members, in exchange for getting his family back.

Buying the game on the PlayStation store will set you back £49.99, but it is free to download if you are either a PS Plus extra/premium member, or a GTA+ subscriber. Anyone who bought the PS4 version can also upgrade for free.

However, players have noticed two glaring issues with the re-release - one of which could be considered to be game-breaking.

The first is that the PS5 controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers have no impact on gameplay; whereas in other games, the triggers feel like an actual weapon when shooting, there is no feedback whatsoever in Red Dead Redemption.

But the second issue is far more problematic for those who have played the PS4 version.

Players are able to import their PS4 saves, but the in-game trophies are not auto-popping to reflect their achievements in the previous version of the game. This makes importing your old save somewhat redundant.

At the time of publication, there is no word from Rockstar about when this issue will be fixed - or whether it will even be looked at by developers.
