How to get tickets to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2022: how much is a Coventry music festival ticket - and dates
Radio 1 DJ Greg James started the countdown to Big Weekend, featuring Ed Sheeran in the festival line up, tickets going on sale
Tickets to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend are now on sale (Friday 18 March).
Weekend tickets went on sale this morning at 8.30am with Radio 1 DJ Greg James starting the countdown to the launch.
Hot demand for tickets have already seen Saturday tickets sell out, but there are still tickets available for the Sunday.
Friday festival tickets go on sale later on at 6.30pm on 18 March so there’s still chance to claim a spot at the Coventry event.
After two years of disruption brought on by the Covid pandemic, Big Weekend returns to a live in person event in 2022.
Here’s all you need to know about how to get tickets, how much they are, key festival dates and who will be performing.
Radio 1’s Big Weekend venue and dates
The three-day-long event will take place 27-29 May at the War Memorial Park in Coventry.
Memorial Park is expected to host around 70,000 revellers across the weekend, as it kicks off festival season.
It is believed the location was picked due to Coventry being chosen as the City of Culture 2021, as well as Coventry boy Pa Salieu winning BBC Sound Of 2021.
The city is also expected to host the MOBO awards in December.
Speaking of the choice of venue, Head of Radio 1 Aled Haydn Jones said: "We can’t wait to bring some of the biggest artists on the planet along with us when we head to Coventry in May.”
Rapper Pa Salieu also told BBC’s Newsbeat that he is "more than proud" of his city - adding having Big Weekend there is "very, very exciting".
"It’s a city full of so much vast culture. It will be sick, Coventry will appreciate it," he added.
