Week five of the Great British Bake Off's 14th series saw a double elimination in the tent after Tasha's illness last week meant no one left the competition

It was tears all around the famous Bake Off tent as the show's contestants waved goodbye to two bakers in one week.

The double elimination came after contestant Tasha fell ill during the task and was unable to complete her showstopper Chocolate Week. As a result, no baker was eliminated in last week's episode. However, the bakers weren't given respite for long.

Week five saw the return of Pastry Week to the show, with our bakers instructed to bake a savoury picnic pie for their signature dish. Some of the flavours on the menu included Matty's Greek feta and spinach pie and Dana's pie-encrusted Dauphinoise potatoes.

Nicky had a nightmare in the signature challenge and suffered from the one thing you don't want in Pastry Week - a soggy bottom. She was forced to restart her entire pie from the beginning due to her dough cooking her egg filling. Rowan and Saku also had shaky rounds, with soggy bottoms all round. However Cristy had a brilliant round, and even received a famed Hollywood Handshake for her creamy leek and mushroom pies.

The technical couldn't have been better chosen for Dana - the challenge this week was an attempt at a Dauphinoise pithiver, which consists of rough puff pastry filled with Dauphinoise potatoes, much like Dana's signature. However, she was only pipped to the post by Dan, who had a shaky moment during the technical when he was forced to restart after an injury led him to getting blood in his pastry. Nicky's bad run of luck continued as she placed bottom.

The bakers were tasked with making decorative sweet pies for the Showstopper challenge this week. Nicky still had lengths to go to impress Paul and Prue. However it was to be another disappointing pastry offering from Nicky, with Paul saying it was the first time he had ever eaten a "dry" apple pie.

Rowan was in the middle pile of bakers coming into the final challenge of the week, but unfortunately his Showstopper severely let him down. The 'Absolutely Fabulous' inspired pies were described as "awful" by the judges after they were either undercooked or overcooked. Once again Cristy shone in the Showstopper with her 'Autunal Lattice' selection of pies, which the judges branded "beautiful".

Come the end of the episode, unsurprisingly it was the end of the competition for both Nicky and Rowan. After the elimination, Nicky said she had to "hold back the tears", while Rowan said it was "my time to go". On the other hand, the Pastry Week Star Baker apron went to Cristy.

Next week, it's back to just the one elimination for the tent as Botanical Week puts our baker to the test. But who will be next to go?
