What is the Great British Bake Off 203 theme this week, why is there a double elimination?

The theme for The Great British Bake Off 2023 this week is Pastry and two contestants will be eliminated from the show. For those of you who watched the show last week, Tasha was forced to withdraw from Chocolate Week after falling ill in the tent, which means that two contestants will be eliminated in this week’s show. After showcasing her chocolate and ginger torte, Tasha started to feel unwell during the technical challenge and told the crew: “It’s so hot, I think I need some air.” She was advised to take a break but didn’t return to the tent and Alison Hammond visited her outside to check on her wellbeing. As a result of her missing the show and returning this week, there is a double elimination tonight. 

As we look forward to pasty week on The Great British Bake Off 2023, in last year’s show, bakers needed to show off their savoury pastry and vol-au-vent skills as well as create a pie-themed 3D showstopper inspired by a childhood story. The baker who was eliminated in Pastry Week 2022 was Maxy who revealed afterwards that “Along the way, I have grown and become more confident as a person, gained new friends and left the tent a better baker… To the team, you are amazing. Thank you for making this such a lovely experience. Love to you all.”

Who will win The Great British Bake Off 2023?

Tasha was initially touted as a favourite to win and fans were happy that an interpreter was included in the show as Tasha is the first deaf contestant on the show. Just before the show started in September, Paddy Power was tipping 27-year old Josh (a chemist by trade) to be crowned the winner.
