AMC crime drama Kin is finally coming to the UK on Thursday 24 February. It’ll be available on Sundance Now via Amazon Prime.

Kin, which stars Charlie Cox, is about an Irish crime family that get drawn into all-out warfare when one of their sons is killed.

Here’s everything you need to know about Kin.

What is it about?

Kin is about the Kinsella crime family, an Irish drug cartel that get embroiled in a far wider and far more dangerous gangland war when one of their sons is mistakenly killed in a hit gone wrong.

The family drama has shades of Succession to it, and the crime drama feels of a piece with programmes like Ozark or Peaky Blinders.

Kin is loosely inspired by the real-life Kinahan crime family, and their feud with the Hutch crime family.

Who is in it?

Charlie Cox stars as Michael Kinsella; having recently returned from prison, Michael is looking to try and leave this life behind and make a fresh start. You’ll recognise Charlie Cox from roles in Stardust and Boardwalk Empire, but he’s best known for playing Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Aidan Gillen plays Frank Kinsella, leader of the family who’s quickly losing his grip. Gillen is best known for his role in Game of Thrones as the manipulative Littlefinger, but he’s also appeared in Queer as Folk, Project Blue Book, and The Dark Knight Rises.

Ciaran Hinds plays Eamon Cunningham, an influential powerbroker and the Kinsella’s main rival in Dublin. Hinds is another former Game of Thrones actor, and he can currently be seen in Kenneth Branagh’s movie Belfast.

They’re joined by Claire Dunne (Spider-Man: Far From Home), Emmett J Scanlan (The Fall), and Sam Keeley (Raw) amongst others.

Is there a trailer?

Yes, there is, and you can see it – and its brutal violence – right here.

In the UK, Kin is available to watch on Sundance Now – an add-on which can be found via Amazon Prime.

All eight episodes of the first series will be available to watch at once.

Kin is a co-production between American network AMC and Irish channel RTE.

Will there be a season 2?

Yes – AMC recently confirmed that Kin would be returning for a second season, though we don’t yet know when that’ll be.

Why should I watch it?

It’s a really well-paced, confidently made crime drama, brought to life by some impressive performances (Charlie Cox and Claire Dunne stand out in particular, but everyone is doing great work throughout).
