The popular dating show sees potential suitors agree to get married at first sight (it’s a fairly self-explanatory concept).

Here’s everything you need to know about Married At First Sight: Australia Series 9.

What is it about?

The Australian iteration of Married At First Sight sees 16 singles lock eyes for the first time at the altar – meeting for the first time as they begin married life. (Again, it’s a very efficient title in terms of conveying the concept.)

The episodes look at the unique pressures of married life through this unusual lens, with different themes emphasised at different times – Series 9 will once again see Intimacy week, Confessions week, and a Couples’ Retreat week.

There are 16 hopeful singles, pictured above. They’re makeup artists and motivational speakers, swim coaches and brand managers, teaching students and semi-professional wrestlers; they each have their own hopes, dreams, anxieties, and regrets, and they’re all looking for love in the eyes of a stranger.

One prospective contestant – Simon Blackburn, a miner from Melbourne – has been removed from the series after his onscreen match (florist Jessica Seracino) found his homophobic social media posts. Blackburn was edited it out of the series, and Seracino paired with a new groom.

The series is once again hosted by experts John Aiken, Mel Schilling, and Alessandra Rampolla.

Is there a trailer?

No.

When is it on and how can I watch it?
