What is it about?

The Cuphead Show! is an animated slapstick comedy about the adventures – and, more often than not, the misadventures – of the impulsive Cuphead and his rather more cautious brother Mugman.

The video game Cuphead! sees the two brothers trying to repay a debt to the Devil – the series will touch on similar ideas, having cast Luke Millington-Drake as the Devil.

Who is in the cast?

Tru Valentino stars as Cuphead, while Frank Todaro plays his brother Mugman. Valentino has appeared in police drama The Rookie, but is best known as a voice actor with roles in Madagascar: A Little Wild, We Baby Bears, and Spidey and His Amazing Friends. Meanwhile, Todaro is best known for playing a variety of characters in the Transformers franchise.

They’re joined by Luke Millington-Drake (Best Friend Fix) as the Devil, Clancy Brown (Dexter: New Blood) as Porkrind, Jim Conroy (Top Cat) as Ollie Bulb, Biff and Duke, and Wayne Brady (The Good Fight) as King Dice, the villainous right hand man to the Devil.

The series was developed and written by Dave Wasson, who is best known for his work on the animated series Time Quad, Star vs the Forces of Evil, and Mickey Mouse Shorts.

It’s executive produced by brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, who created the original Cuphead! video game.

Is there a trailer?

Yes, there is. You can watch it, and its throwback to classic animation style, right here.

How and where can I watch it?

All twelve episodes of The Cuphead Show! series one are available to stream on Netflix from Friday 18 February 2022.

Will there be another series?

Yes, there will. Netflix has confirmed both a second and third season of the show, having made an initial order of 48 episodes on commissioning the show.

Those 48 episodes includes the 12 episodes that make up Season 1 – so season 2 and 3 might be 18 episodes long each, or that 48 episode order might also include an as yet unannounced Season 4.

Why should I watch it?

Because it looks like a lot of fun, and a welcome reminder of the style of some old classics.
