The Masked Singer: Who is Moth? Latest clues and fan theories as fans think secret celeb is chart-topping girlband member
The Masked Singer is back and fans are well into the swing of the biggest guessing game on television.
The hit series returned to ITV earlier this month, with a new group of disguised celebrities taking to the stage to entertain and confuse the judges and viewers at home.
This year, 12 characters have taken on The Masked Singer, with three stars being unmasked so far.
Following a double-bill launch weekend, presenter Alex Jones was revealed to be under the Disc Jockey costume while singer and rapper Professor Green was revealed to be Teabag. Last weekend saw Sex Pistols legend John Lydon unmasked as Yak.
There’s still plenty of masked-up stars to take a guess at - including soaring diva Moth.

What are the latest clues for Moth on The Masked Singer?
While Moth has only performed once so far, there have been plenty of clues in their VTs and performance. Although remember that some may be red herrings!
During their first performance on the show, Moth performed ‘Hero’ by Mariah Carey.
The clues so far for Moth are:
- Judges pointed out their posh accent
- “Is this mic on? You’re in for a show”
- “It’s time for me to face the music”
- Tulips thrown at their feet
- “A successful moth-dition must have three things - grace, power, and presence”
- Moth was seen holding a carrot
- Moth said they “served in the west until my time was up and I returned to my rightful field” (Moth add that the “rightful place” was “lighting candles with some good background music, snug as a bug”)
- A framed picture of Ronnie Corbett
- Moth was seen holding a bluejay

Who do the judges think Moth is?
Moth’s stunning performance of Hero left the judges speechless, with the hidden star hitting all of the right notes. Jonathan Ross began the guesses, linking the ‘bluejay’ clue to a guess of Jessie J. He also pointed out that he though the “served in the west” clue pointed towards appearing on the West End.
Davina McCall, who was overcome with emotion from Moth’s performance, thought that 80s movie star Molly Ringwald could be behind the mask after picking up on the “face the music” clue (Molly was in a show called Face The Music), the possible West End clue, the carrot as a possible nod to her famous red locks, and lighting candles (Molly famously appeared in the 80s film Sixteen Candles).
Maya Jama agreed that she thought there was a West End link and went for former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, who appeared in the West End production of The Bodyguard. Alexandra also famously performed ‘Hero’ as part of The X Factor cast’s 2008 charity single.
Mo Gilligan also went for another musical diva, this time taking a guess at Paloma Faith. Jonathan backed up his guess, telling the viewers at home that his Celebrity Traitors co-star used to work in a shop in London’s West End.
Who do The Masked Singer viewers think Moth is?
Moth’s performance has had viewers in a flutter over who could be behind the mask. Fans took to social media to share their fan theories and guesses, and pop divas are the focus.
One popular guess is Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan. A certain viewers said: “Moth is Keisha Buchanan from Sugababes, surely!?” Another added: “Moth’s voice reminds me of Keisha from Sugababes.”
Other guesses have ranged from Keisha’s Sugababes bandmate Mutya Buena, ex-Corrie star Kym Marsh (who started her career in pop band Hear’Say), and actress and singer Martine McCutcheon.
