What is it about?
The official Netflix synopsis for Young Wallander series 2 reveals that Wallander is “adrift and uncertain of the future following his exit from the police force. An opportunity to re-join the Major Crimes Unit arises when a new Superintendent, Samuel Osei, takes on the leadership. Wallander accepts the offer and is tasked with what seems to be a straightforward case: a hit-and-run outside a nightclub.”
“However, when the victim is found to be connected to an infamous murder case handled by Frida Rask eight years ago, Wallander quickly suspects that there is more to this incident than meets the eye. Determined to uncover the truth, he refuses to back off - even when the investigation leads him to the door of those who could end his career in a heartbeat.”
Who is in the cast?
Adam Pålsson plays Young Wallander. Pålsson is a Swedish actor best known for his role in Young Wallander, but you might recognise him from roles in Moscow Noir, Don’t Ever Wipe Tears Without Gloves, and The Bridge.

Hide AdYoung Wallander is based on Henning Mankell’s Inspector Wallander books. Those books were already adapted for television, with Kenneth Branagh starring as Kurt Wallander.
Young Wallander isn’t related to the Brannagh Wallander (both series are set in the present day, so the timeline wouldn’t work). Instead, it’s a reinterpretation of the character, keeping the young version in the modern day to preserve the social commentary of Mankell’s books.
How young is Young Wallander?
In lieu of a chart, some straightforward facts instead: Adam Pålsson is currently 33. That means he’s playing roughly a decade younger than his actual age – Young Wallander is in his early 20s in the series.
