The One Show: As Claro Amfo joins Vernon Kay to host the BBC show, who are his daughters Phoebe and Amber?
The BBC presenters will be joined by stars from EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing.
Clara Amfo and Vernon Kay will present Wednesday's episode of the One Show. The TV hosts will be joined by celebrity guests EastEnders actors Balvinder Sopal and Navin Chowdhry and Strictly Come Dancing stars Chris McCausland & Dianne Buswell.
As Vernon Kay, 50, fills in for Roman Kemp to present the show, we take a closer look at his wife and family. Vernon Kay is married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly. The couple met in 2001 after their presenting roles on T4 and SMTV and not long after, began dating.
Two years later, the couple married in Vernon’s hometown in September 2003. On their tenth wedding anniversary, Vernon Kay arranged a surprise vow renewal in the south of France. They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in 2023. It hasn’t all been happy though as Vernon Kay has to publicly apologise to Tess after he was caught sexting another woman during their marriage.
The couple share two daughters Phoebe - who recently celebrated her 20th birthday, and Amber, 15 the girls were born in 2004 and 2009. Vernon and Tess are very protective over the girls, but have shared updates on their kids on social media now and then. Vernon shared a snap of him and Phoebe in Ibiza after she had finished her exams in June 2023 - she’s reportedly studying film and TV at university.
Speaking to The Sun about what it was like growing up with famous parents Phoebe said: “Everything was so normal, so I didn’t realise. When it was explained that Mum was on TV, I would visit the studio and think: ‘Wow, this is special.’
“With Dad, I loved ‘Splash’ then he was on BBC Radio 1 so I went to the Big Weekend and I remember him bringing me on stage. It’s pretty amazing what they both do and I am so lucky I got to experience it.”
