Shoppers fuming over £2 Lidl Beauty worth over £70.

Lidl shoppers are absolutely fuming over a £2 beauty box that allegedly sold out in seconds. This week Lidl advertised a beauty box packed full of their best selling Cien beauty products. The box was due to go on sale at 10am on May 9 via the Lidl website (although some people looked for the time in store including me).

The Lidl box featured 20 full size beauty products including a Cien Myramaze Premium Face Day Cream and Cien Myramaze Premium Face Night Cream, Cien Micellar Cleansing Milk, Cien Facial Scrub, Cien Tissue Face Masks and more. The total worth of products is £70 and was being sold for just £2 with all proceeds going to Lidl’s charity partner, NSPC.

It sounds like a beauty buy too good to be true! And now Lidl shoppers believe it was a publicity stunt.

The box was only available to buy online and when I spoke to the employees at Lidl in Sleaford they were as confused about it as me.

The manager of the store said it didn’t “look like something we [Lidl] would sell” and when I explained it was to be sold online he and his co-worker said “Lidl doesn’t sell online”.

Taking to social media one person wrote: “Absolutely shocking PR stunt, it’s put me off Lidl now completely. Very, very, very poor and disingenuous.”

Another questioned: “Did anyone actually get one?” And a third added: “I don’t think they ever had any to sell. I’m never purchasing Cien products due to this joke of a publicity stunt. Lacura from Aldi is better anyway.”

According to Lidl’s Instagram post they wrote: “35,000 of you joined the queue this morning for our exclusive beauty boxes – wow! We love that you love it, so watch this space for more with our budget beauty bangers.”

However, it looks like a few people were very lucky and got their hands on the Beauty box as there are a few already being sold on eBay for £50
