What was the Met Gala theme? Worst dressed stars included Kim Kardashian and Heidi Klum

There were plenty of stars including Kim Kardashian and Heidi Klum who failed to impress at the Met Gala 2026.

For those of you who are interested in the history of the Met Gala, it began in 1948 as a fundraising dinner for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and takes place annually on the first Monday of May. Before the Met Gala took place, there was the press preview of the Met’s exhibit ‘Costume Art’.

At the event, Anna Wintour said: "Years ago this was a very small event and honestly, we sometimes had to chase people to attend," and she also said: "Fashion, we were a bit of a curiosity. Now fashion is everywhere and belongs to everyone."

Anna Wintour also thanked her three co-chairs Nicole Kidman, Beyoncé and Lauren Sánchez Bezos. When it comes to Lauren Sánchez Bezos, Anna Wintour said: "Lauren is willing to shake up society with risk-taking and an upbeat spirit that is as boundless as her energy.”

When it comes to the worst dressed at the Met Gala 2026, there were plenty of stars in contention. This year’s theme was Costume Art and the theme was Fashion is Art.

To help Kim Kardashian’s Fashion is Art Met Gala look, she enlisted the help of British pop artist Allen Jones. According to British Vogue, “For Kardashian’s tangerine fiberglass breastplate, Jones repurposed a cast from 1967 or 1968.” Kim Kardashian also told British Vogue that “He was adamant that it be something current and fresh that he had just worked on – not just a piece from his past.”

Some may say Kim Kardashian’s look nailed the Fashion is Art dress code, but I personally just thought it looked tacky. I also wasn’t a fan of the look chosen by Heidi Klum. Heidi Klum looked like she had mistaken the Met Gala for one of her Halloween parties, I personally thought her living statue look was totally wrong for this event.
