The most expensive football boots in the world cost a whopping £1.58 million and were custom-made exclusively for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Research undertaken by OLBG has found out which boots have fetched the highest amount of money in history, with Ronaldo’s ‘Rare Gold’ - which features real gold and diamonds - topping the list.

However, there are also editions from both David Beckham and Ronaldinho which make the list, but no room for Lionel Messi or any of his special edition Adidas X or f50 models.

Leading sportswear outlet PRO:DIRECT boasts 1,724 different models of boots for adults as of September 5th 2024, ranging from £20 to £310, with an average price of £85.

However, with supply limited on some of the boots listed below, prices soar exorbitantly above retail and can even go into the millions.

1. Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 ‘Rare Gold’ (Cristiano Ronaldo Edition) - £1.58 Million

  • These boots were specially made by Nike to celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo’s third Ballon d'Or win in 2014. The boots are embedded with gold and diamonds, and were limited to just 333 pairs - meaning they sold out in minutes and prices went through the roof.

2. Nike Tiempo Legend IV (Worn by Ronaldinho) - £790,000

  • Nike Tiempo Legend IV boots worn by Ronaldinho during his playing days fetched around $1 million. These boots were auctioned, and their value was linked to the legendary status of the Brazilian superstar.

3. Nike Mercurial Vapor IX (Worn by Cristiano Ronaldo) - £19,750

  • The Nike Mercurial Vapor IX, Ronaldo’s sixth in his exclusive line with Mercurial, fetched an impressive $25,000. The boots were auctioned off, making them one of the priciest pairs in the history of football.

4. Adidas F50 "Yohji Yamamoto" Limited Edition - £3,950

  • This special edition was designed by Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto. It featured intricate dragon and lion designs, and only 2,000 pairs were made, making them one of the most expensive retail football boots.

5. Adidas Predator Precision David Beckham 2017 Remake - £3,160

  • To celebrate David Beckham's 20-year association with Adidas, the brand released a limited-edition remake of the Predator Precision boots. These are priced at around $4,000 due to their limited availability and Beckham’s influence.

6. Nike Hypervenom Phantom II "Tech Craft" - £2,370

  • Released as part of Nike’s Tech Craft series, these boots were made from a combination of leather and synthetic materials. Their limited edition and innovative design made them expensive, retailing for about $3,000.

7. Adidas X 99.1 Limited Edition - £1,975

  • Designed to be ultra-lightweight and limited to only 299 pairs, these boots combine top-tier performance with exclusivity, making them highly collectible and expensive at around $2,500.

8. Puma King Platinum Lazertouch - £790

  • Puma released the King Platinum Lazertouch boots as a premium leather edition. These boots are crafted with high-end leather technology, and limited pairs drove the price to around £764.
