The iPhone 13, Apple’s latest model of the iconic phone is available from September.

With Mini, Pro and Pro Max models available in the iPhone 13 range, Apple’s latest creation promises a longer battery life than its predecessor, the iPhone 12.

So when is the phone available to pre-order in the UK, when does it go on general sale, how much is it and what are its key features?

What is the new iPhone 13?

The new iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Mini have a new Wide camera with bigger pixel to improve low-light and photos.

For those who love video, the phones also boast a new Cinematic mode, to bring a movie-like dimension to video-storytelling.

An A15 Bionic Chip brings faster graphics and performance, and also boosts power-efficiency.

The most talked-about benefit of the new model, is its improved battery life thanks to a bigger battery, and the power efficiency benefits of the A15 Bionic Chip.

Durability is also improved with a Ceramic Shield front cover.

The phone also has 128GB of storage, and  an improved 5G experience.

What are the key features of the iPhone Pro and Pro Max?

According to Apple, these models are “pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in a smartphone”.

They have all of the features of the standard iPhone 13 model, but with  an even better display and camera.

Featuring the same Super Retina XDR display of the standard model, the Pro and Promax have an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, making the touch experience faster and more responsive.

Although the standard model already offers an improved camera, and supports the Cinematic mode, there are a number of improvements in the Pro models that photo and video aficionados might appreciate.

These are: A brighter ultra-wide angle lens (ƒ/1.8 aperture)

  • A brighter wide-angle lens (ƒ/1.5 aperture)
  • 3x optical zoom
  • 6x optical zoom
  • Up to 15x digital zoom
  • Night mode in Portraits
  • Apple ProRAW
  • ProRes video recording up to 4K at 30fps (1080p at 30fps for 128GB memory)

What colours are the phones available in?

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in Pink, Blue, Midnight, (black) Starlight, (white) and Red, while the Pro models are available in Sierra Blue (new), Silver, Gold and Graphite (black).

When can I pre-order the iPhone 13?

In the UK, the iPhone 13 was available to pre-order from 1pm on Friday 17 September.

You can pre-order the phone on Apple’s official website, and through various mobile providers including Virgin Mobile, O2 and EE.

When does it go on sale?

The iPhone 13 hits shelves on 24 September.

How much does it cost?

Customers can get iPhone 13 for £32.34 a month for 24 months or £779 before trade-in, and iPhone 13 mini for £28.29 a month for 24 months or £679 before trade-in from apple.com/uk/store, in the Apple Store app, and at Apple Store locations.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are also available through Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers.

You can also purchase the phone through a number of mobile providers.
