Jet2's big holiday promise is great news for Brits planning a summer getaway

One of the country’s biggest package holiday operators has sent a reassuring message to sunseekers who feared soaring fuel prices could wreck their next summer break.

Airline and package holiday operator Jet2 has confirmed it will not add fuel surcharges to its flight and holiday prices until at least summer 2028.

And it’s also pledged that customers won’t face an unexpected price hike once they’ve made their booking.

The No Fuel Surcharges guarantee comes against a background of rising oil prices linked to conflict in the Middle East, with some airlines introducing additional fees to help cover the cost of aviation fuel.

Fuel surcharges can be added to flight tickets or package holidays, leaving travellers facing unexpected costs. Virgin Atlantic was reported in April to have introduced fuel surcharges of £50 for economy passengers, £180 for premium economy and £360 for business class.

That practice has attracted criticism from politicians and consumer campaigners who say travellers should not be hit with unexpected price increases after committing to a holiday.

Now Jet2 has confirmed it will maintain its guarantee for holidays booked between this winter and summer 2028, with the promise applying to flights and holidays purchased through all booking channels.

David Hills, Jet2's chief customer officer, said: "Customers work and save hard for their holidays so they deserve certainty from the moment they book.

"We are making it clear that the price customers book with Jet2 is the price they will pay, with no fuel surcharge added later.

"That reassurance applies to all customers booking with Jet2, whatever time of year they choose to travel, making now the perfect time to book a well-deserved holiday."

For customers considering a winter getaway or a summer 2028 break, the guarantee means Jet2 will not add a separate fuel surcharge to the price agreed at the time of booking.
