Formula One star Lando Norris has split from girlfriend Luisinha Oliveira, just eight months after making their relationship public.
The McLaren driver and Portuguese model confirmed they were dating in January after months of speculation with a post calling Luisinha his “sunshine.”
Since then, the 22-year-olds have posted several pictures together on Instagram and have gone on holidays including a romantic boat trip to Ibiza just two weeks ago.
However, Lando took to social media on 1 September to inform his 5.7 million followers that the pair have sadly gone their separate ways.
In a now deleted story, he said: “Hello everyone. After time and consideration, Luisa and myself have mutually decided to end our relationship but remain good friends.
“I wish her the world and I have so much respect for her and all she does as an amazing and strong woman with nothing but kindness.”
Lando added: “Please respect our decision and respect our - but more importantly and especially her privacy moving forward. Thank you for the endless support.”
Luisinha is a Portuguese model working for Central Models, and is the younger sister of actress Beatriz Barosa.
While the young beauty has not commented on the split, she took to her social media on Wednesday [31 August] saying “Enjoy every given moment.”
Fans of the Formula One star and model have been shocked by the announcement as the couple celebrated their year anniversary just three weeks ago.
The romantic split also comes as Lando loses his McLaren teammate Daniel Ricciardo at the end of this year, as the Australian driver “mutually decided” to leave his seat.
The decision was revealed after Ricciardo’s seat was called into question following confusion with Alpine’s Reserve Driver Oscar Piastri, who denied racing for his maiden team in 2023.
Lando commented on his two years with the eight-time Grand Prix winner in an Instagram post highlighting their amazing 1-2 finish in Italy last year.
He said: “What a ride. From that moment in Monza, to the laughs we’ve had outside of the car, it’s been a joy working with you these last two years.
“Whatever’s next I wish you all the best, let’s have a mega next few months.”
The two McLaren drivers will be racing in the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend at the Zandvoort track.
