The American singer-songwriter was "rushed" for medical treatment earlier on Thursday, however no other information was immediately made available. Her mother said she had been receiving “the best care” in hospital, and asked for fans to keep the family in their prayers.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Presley collapsed at the home of her ex-husband Danny Keough in the Calabasas area and was having trouble breathing after “a cardiac episode”. She had been staying at Keough’s home since selling her own Calabasas home after the 2020 death of their 27-year-old son, Benjamin Keough.

TMZ reports that Keough performed CPR on Presley after he returned from the school run until paramedics arrived. Medical personnel were reportedly able to regain a pulse before Presley was moved to hospital, and adrenaline was administered at the scene at least once.

Los Angeles County paramedics were dispatched to a Calabasas home at 10.37am following a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest, according to Craig Little, a spokesperson for the county’s fire department. Property records indicate Lisa Marie was a resident at that address.

What did she say at the Golden Globes?

Presley’s death comes shortly after she made her final public appearance at the 80th annual Golden Globe awards on Tuesday 10 January, where actor Austin Butler took home the best actor award for his portrayal of her father.

Speaking at a pre-ceremony event, she said she had been “overwhelmed” by the film and the effect that it had. “I’m very proud and I know that my father would be very proud… I’m overwhelmed with gratitude,” she said.

The official account of the Golden Globe awards, said she had been “a very welcome presence” at the event.

“We are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Lisa Marie Presley,” a statement read. “She was an extremely talented Singer/Songwriter and a very welcome presence at the Golden Globes this past Tuesday. May you rest in peace.”

Days before her death, Presley visited Graceland, the mansion owned by her father in Memphis, Tennessee, to celebrate his birthday of 8 January.

Upon her father’s death, at the age of nine-years-old, she became the joint heir to his estate, with her grandfather, Vernon Presley, and her great-grandmother, Minnie Mae Hood Presley. In 1993, when she turned 25 she took full control of the estate and formed The Elvis Presley Trust, to continue its successful management.

Was she married?

Presley was married four times, first to musician Danny Keough (1988 - 1994), then singer Michael Jackson (1994 - 1996), actor Nicolas Cage (2002 - 2004), and music producer Michael Lockwood (2006 - 2021).

She is survived by her children: 33-year-old actress and director Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road), and 14-year-old twin daughters, Harper and Finley.
