Families planning a trip to Alton Towers can dramatically cut the cost of entry with cheaper advance online tickets
There’s a simple trick to cutting the cost of a trip to Alton Towers – and it could save families more than £30 per ticket.
While walk-up entry to the Staffordshire theme park can cost as much as £68, visitors who book ahead online can unlock dramatically cheaper prices depending on the day they choose to visit.
Planning in advance is key, because turning up on the day is usually the most expensive option. Guests who pre-book day passes online can often find weekday tickets from as little as £32, knocking £36 off the standard gate price.

Weekends are also cheaper when booked online in advance, with many dates available from around £37 – still a sizeable saving compared to paying at the entrance.
As expected, prices rise slightly during the busiest periods. Summer weekday tickets tend to start from around £34, while school holiday dates usually begin at roughly £37, though they still work out far cheaper than paying on arrival.
The standard passes include access to major attractions across the resort, including CBeebies Land, Sharkbait Reef by Sea Life and the famous Alton Towers Gardens. However, entry to the Waterpark is sold separately, with online prices starting from around £18 on selected dates.

Families with younger children may also want to look at the newer Parent and Toddler tickets. While the normal combined entry price can also hit £68, some advance-booked dates are available from as little as £29 online.
Anyone planning a longer stay can save even more with a two-day pass, with prices beginning at around £46 instead of the usual £80 combined cost.
For frequent visitors, the annual pass may offer the best value of all. Starting from £64, it includes entry throughout the season, including special themed events such as Scarefest.
