I tried FOREO's BEAR 2 with its Supercharged Serum 2.0 and loved how my skin felt, but the app setup wasn't for me.

I'm always intrigued by beauty gadgets that promise to lift, firm and give skin a more sculpted appearance without having to book a salon appointment. So, when I had the chance to try the FOREO BEAR 2 Bundle £379 (was £ 438) which includes the BEAR 2 microcurrent facial toning device and Supercharged Serum 2.0, I was keen to see how it would fit into my skincare routine.

The device promises to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, boost skin firmness and elasticity, and give the complexion a more lifted look. FOREO claims it can deliver noticeable improvements in just one week, but I wanted to see how it felt to use and whether I would notice a difference myself.

My first impressions were positive. The device feels nice against my face, and my skin does feel lifted after using it. However, I think I'll need a few more weeks of consistent use before deciding whether I notice a significant difference.

What I liked about the FOREO BEAR 2

The first thing I liked about the FOREO BEAR 2 is that it makes an at-home facial feel a little more special. It uses microcurrent technology and offers four treatment types: Advanced Microcurrent, Lifting Microcurrent, Tapping Microcurrent and Sculpting Microcurrent, designed to provide different approaches to facial toning.

The bundle includes Supercharged Serum 2.0, formulated to work alongside the device. It contains an electrolyte complex designed to improve microcurrent transfer, alongside five types of hyaluronic acid, squalane, vitamin E, ceramides, amino acids and panthenol.

I like that the serum contains ingredients commonly used to hydrate and condition the skin. Hyaluronic acid helps attract moisture, while squalane can soften the skin and ceramides support the skin barrier. It makes the bundle feel like a more complete skincare offering.

What I didn't like about the FOREO BEAR 2

My biggest frustration wasn't the device itself. It was having to download an app to connect the FOREO gadget and get started. I understand that apps can provide instructions and explain different settings, but I don't enjoy downloading another app just to use a beauty gadget. I'd much rather switch the device on and get on with my skincare routine.

The app also includes a 'Find My Device' function, which feels a little pointless to me. Perhaps it's useful for someone who regularly misplaces their beauty gadgets, but mine all live in the same drawer, so I can't imagine needing to track one down very often. Connecting an app should feel worthwhile rather than like an unnecessary extra step.

Overall verdict

Overall, my first experience with the FOREO BEAR 2 Bundle has been positive. I like how the device feels against my face, my skin feels lifted after using it, and the Supercharged Serum 2.0 adds a hydrating element to the routine. However, I want to use the device consistently for a few more weeks before deciding whether I notice a significant difference.

Would I continue using it? Yes. Despite my reservations about the app, I like how the BEAR 2 feels and I'm interested to see what difference regular use might make. If you enjoy at-home beauty technology and want to explore microcurrent skincare, it's worth considering, provided you're happy with the app setup and understand that results can vary.
