As Prince Harry & Meghan Markle have reportedly bought a Portugal home, is Princess Eugenie connected to it?

In January last year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave up their British home, Frogmore Cottage. It was reported that Frogmore cottage was offered by King Charles to his younger brother, Prince Andrew who is believed to have rejected the move in favour of staying at Royal Lodge.

According to the Daily Mail, “The purchase of the home in Portugal may have allowed the Sussexes to acquire a so-called Golden Visa, under which they would have visa-free access to the European Union's Schengen area.” When Meghan Markle got engaged to Prince Harry, she was believed to have been applying for British citizenship but that was abandoned after the couple left the UK in March 2020. 

The idea of buying a property in Portugal may have stemmed from Prince Harry’s close relationship with his cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank. Last September, it was reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stayed with the couple at their home in Portugal. 

When they are not in London, both Princess Eugenie, children August and Ernest and husband Jack Brooksbank, who works in marketing and sales for CostaTerra, reside at a home in the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club. 

Eugenie and Jack’s Portugal home in the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club is located by the sea in Melides, which is south of Lisbon. According to Costa Terra Golf and Ocean Club’s website, the amenities include a “Tom Fazio golf course, the equestrian centre, a family-focused beach club, an organic farm, a wellness centre and a charming community village ensure each day brings a renewed sense of adventure and exploration.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always enjoyed a close relationship with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. Princess Eugenie was even briefly featured in the Sussexes’  Netflix series and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went out with Princess Eugenie and Jack before their relationship became public. 

Prince Harry and Meghan went to a Halloween party with Princess Eugenie and her then boyfriend Jack in 2016 and said: “His cousin Eugenie, her boyfriend Jack and my friend Marcus were there too. It was so great, just silly fun.”
