On the official Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram, Catherine, Princess of Wales shared an image of a ‘Wave of Light’ candle by Plum & Ashley’ and wrote: "Baby Loss Awareness Week is such an important moment to support those who have experienced the devastation of baby loss.”
Sending love, strength and hope to anyone affected. #WaveofLight” Catherine, Princess of Wales signed off her post with her initial C.

Hide AdCatherine, Princess of Wales shared the message on her social media channels to mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week which according to the Baby Loss Awareness website, “culminates with the global “Wave of Light” on 15th October, which is also a globally recognised event.”
The website encouraged people to join their virtual Wave of Light on 15 October and to take a photo of their candle and post it to Facebook, X or Instagram using the hashtag #WaveofLight at 7pm or to join their Facebook event to watch the livestream.


Following the Princess of Wales’s Instagram post, many people shared their own personal stories and one said: “Thank-you your Royal Highness. I lost my first child at 16 weeks pregnancy very traumatic experience x,” whilst another said: “For Harry, the grandson I never got to cuddle 💙”
Royals in the past who have spoken about their own personal experiences when it comes to baby loss include, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. In a deeply personal essay to the New York Times, the Duchess of Sussex revealed how she had miscarried her and Prince Harry’s second child. She revealed that whilst holding her then 1-year old son Prince Harry, she felt a sharp pain and knew something was wrong.

Hide AdMeghan Markle wrote that “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand,” she wrote. “I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”
Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall has previously revealed that she had suffered from two miscarriages before having a second child. In an interview with The Sunday Times in 2018, she said: I had a miscarriage in 2016 and afterwards loads of people wrote to me and Mike to say they’d been through the same thing. In our case, it was something that was really rare; it was nature saying, “This one’s not right.” For me, the worst bit was that we had to tell everyone — everyone knew.”
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh suffered an ectopic pregnancy in 2001 and at the time, the then Countess of Wessex, said: "I am obviously very sad but it was just not meant to be. But there will be other chances. The nurses have been unbelievably fantastic."
