Australia’s triumph put the cherry on top of their extremely successful cake, as they took home the coveted trophy on Sunday.
A stunning century from Alyssa Healy coupled with brilliant support from Rachael Haynes saw Australia reach 356-5 in their 50 overs.
Anya Shrubsole was England’s pick of the bowlers as she proved her worth in yet another World Cup final taking three wickets, but it was not enough to stop the relentless force of the Aussies.
England came out and posted what would have been a respectable ODI score had they been playing any other side.
Natalie Sciver ended her innings on 148 not out but she was not helped enough by the rest of her squad to convert this into a winning result.
After 43.4 overs, Jess Jonassen took the final wicket and sealed Australia’s record-breaking win.
Now holding both World Cup trophies and the Ashes, Australia’s women are up there with greatest sports teams in the world.
