Alexander Isak will 'never play' for Newcastle United again amid ongoing Liverpool transfer saga

Alexander Isak has told Newcastle United he will never play for them again - even if they refuse to sell him to Liverpool this summer.
Despite the Premier League champions signing striker Hugo Ekitike, who scored on his competitive debut in the Community Shield last weekend, manager Arne Slot is still keen to sign Isak from Newcastle.
Earlier in the transfer window, a bid worth more than £100m was submitted by the Reds, which Newcastle rejected as it fell shy of their £150m valuation of the Sweden international.
The 25-year-old has also informed the club that he wants to leave, but has now taken his position even further.
According to the Athletic’s David Ornstein, Isak has told the Magpies that he will not play for them again, even if the Liverpool transfer does not go through this summer.
Ornstein said: “Even if they refuse to sell the 25-year-old Sweden striker and he remains on Tyneside when the transfer window closes, Isak regards his career at St James’s Park as finished and has no desire to reintegrate into the squad.
“Isak’s perspective is that after being informed last summer that a new contract would not yet be offered to him - because of Newcastle’s need to comply with football’s financial rules and Isak already having a lucrative deal until 2028 - he made clear it would be his last campaign with the club.”
