Arsenal 'in talks' with Bundesliga club for £50m striker after Gabriel Jesus picked up ACL injury

Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with RB Leipzig over a move for Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko.

The Gunners failed in a pursuit for the 21 year-old in the summer but they are determined to land the Slovenian this winter amidst a worrying injury crisis in attack.

With injuries to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri, Arsenal are certainly in need of attacking reinforcements if they want to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool. Kai Havertz is currently Arsenal’s only real recognisable striker in their ranks.

Transfer insider Sam C revealed on X that the Gunners are ‘in talks’ for the striker. He said: “[I am] told Arsenal want a loan with buy option, Leipzig want money upfront or an obligation.

“Understand Arteta has spoken with Sesko on more than one occasion.”

At just 21 years old, Benjamin Sesko is still developing his game but is already making a significant impact. The Slovenian striker has netted eight goals in the Bundesliga this season, adding to the 14 he scored last term. In the Champions League, he has further impressed, finding the net three times.

He recently made headlines for a goal of the season contender with a ferocious strike against Werder Bremen, a wonder goal which showcases the Slovenian’s vigorous ball striking ability.

Despite interest from Arsenal in the summer, he opted to stay at Leipzig, penning a contract extension which is reported to have removed an approximate £50m release clause which was present in his previous contract.

Following their triumph in the north London derby and the near-finalized signing of Martin Zubimendi, Arsenal have enjoyed a fine start to the week but could it get even better with this signing?
