Chelsea could be looking to sign a former player in January.

We are just over a day away from another set of Premier League fixtures - as Arsenal prepare to take on West Ham United and Liverpool gear up for a monumental clash with a wounded Manchester City outfit, here are all the biggest rumours from around England’s top division today.

A former Chelsea player is ‘keen’ to return to the club in the January transfer window, although the Blues are not the only club in the race - meanwhile, a Manchester City player has opened up on the trials and tribulations he faces at the Etihad Stadium.

Marc Guehi ‘keen’ to rejoin Chelsea in January transfer window

Chelsea are thought to be interested in a move for former player Marc Guehi in January - and the interest could be mutual, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

The Blues are not the only club who have been linked with a move for the England international - Newcastle United mounted a serious effort to sign him in the summer, but their pursuit was ultimately unsuccessful. Nevertheless, they could make another swoop for the player over the course of the winter window.

Despite Guehi’s best efforts, Crystal Palace have endured a tough campaign thus far. Oliver Glasner’s men sit 19th in the Premier League table with eight points - furthermore, with just ten goals to their name from 12 games, they are among the division’s lowest scorers.

Guehi, meanwhile, has started in all of Palace’s Premier League games thus far in 2024/25, scoring a pair of goals along the way. It is unclear how much he will cost, but with the Eagles turning down reported bids of £80 million in the summer, he will not come cheap.

Kalvin Phillips opens up on Manchester City nightmare

Suffice to say, Kalvin Phillips’ time at Manchester City has not been a success. He has spoken about how the move to the Etihad Stadium affected his ‘confidence’ and how he has regained belief in himself at Ipswich Town.

Speaking with Sky Sports, Phillips said: “At City, you can train with the best players every single day but if you're not playing football every day, it's difficult to stay fit, it's difficult to stay confident.

“When there are times you're feeling like you could play and the manager decides to go down a different route, it does hurt a little bit. The more I wasn't playing, the less confident I got, the less fit I got.

“I just wanted to get that feeling back. I felt like I lost some fire in my belly to compete sometimes, but ever since I've been here, and even in pre-season when I played a lot of minutes I got that fire back, and made the decision to come here to play football and get back doing enjoying what I do.

“It has a similar feeling here to the season at Leeds when we got promoted. We're different in what we do, we're very intense and for me it's about enjoying the season and for the lads too.”
