Has Alex Ferguson died? Former Manchester United manager recovering after feeling unwell at Old Trafford - previous health scares
Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is said to be recovering after becoming unwell at Old Trafford this weekend.
There is concern for former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after he became unwell at Old Trafford at the weekend. A regular attendee at matches both home and away, the 84-year-old was pictured on social media meeting guests at the ground before he took a turn for the worse.
It is understood he was initially assessed in the tunnel area of the ground before being transported to hospital. It is understood he is now recovering after being taken to hospital ahead of the match against Liverpool.
A source has indicated to the Press Association that the 84-year-old is “okay”, having sought precautionary medical attention ahead of the 3.30pm kick-off on Saturday (May 3).

United’s current head coach Michael Carrick, who played under Ferguson, admitted he had been personally impacted by the news before kick-off but hoped the 3-2 win over their arch-rivals had cheered his former boss.
“I haven’t got any updates so I don’t know the latest. I did hear about it before the game so I was aware about that,” he said. “All I can say is I was very affected by it the news. I hope he is all right.
“We hope him to be in good shape and we wish him all the best and hopefully the result gives him a good boost.”
Alex Ferguson health issues
Alex Ferguson has previously had health scares, most notably when the Man Utd legend suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2018 but recovered after undergoing successful surgery. He made a full recovery despite being given a 20 per cent survival rate by doctors.
A couple of years ago, Ferguson also admitted to having dementia fears after seeing a number of his close friends and colleagues suffer with the disease. Speaking to the BBC he said: “I'm 82, obviously I worry about it. Generally my memory is quite good - pray the Lord, touch wood it’ll stay that way.”
