The transfer window may be closed, but Liverpool are still making moves to splash the cash.

On transfer deadline day earlier this week, the Premier League champions made an arrangement to send Harvey Elliott to Aston Villa, on loan for the season.

According to reports, this deal includes a clause that puts the Reds in pole position to sign one of the club’s biggest stars.

The 23-year-old England international has broken out as one of Europe’s brightest attacking talents, drawing heavy interest from top clubs.

Chelsea and Spurs made late approaches in the summer window, while Arsenal explored a deal before pivoting to Eberechi Eze.

Liverpool’s deal with Villa for Harvey Elliott is rumoured to have included a clause giving them first access to Rogers. The arrangement would allow Liverpool to meet Villa’s asking price and seal a move as early as January - an option no other club can trigger.

The exact fee remains unclear, with £80m being the number floated around by other publications, but Rogers is said to be eager for the switch to Anfield.
