Liverpool star offered four-year contract by Bundesliga giants as negotiations accelerate

Formal talks have been held between Liverpool and RB Leipzig for one of the Premier League champions’ stars.
The Bundesliga outfit have opened negotiations with the Reds for midfielder Harvey Elliott, offering the 22-year-old a four-year deal.
Elliott is understood to want regular first-team football and is open to leaving Anfield this summer. Jurgen Klopp, now Red Bull’s global football director, has also been involved in convincing him to move to Germany.
According to CaughtOffside, Leipzig see him as the ideal replacement for Xavi Simons, who is close to sealing a £60m move to Chelsea.
Manager Ole Werner and sporting director Marcel Schafer have spoken directly with Elliott, outlining plans for him to be a key figure in a new-look attacking line.
Liverpool want £47m with a buy-back clause or £56m without. Leipzig value him closer to £26m, though a compromise around £40m could be reached depending on funds from the Simons sale.
Elliott made 18 Premier League appearances last season, impressing as both a creative midfielder and right-sided option. He also dazzled during England’s under-21 Euros campaign, helping the Three Lions lift the trophy.
