Paul Pogba will "give up money" to play for Juventus again once doiping ban is lifted

Exiled footballer Paul Pogba has vowed that he will take a pay cut if it can get him back onto the pitch again.

The French midfielder is in the midst of a doping ban, which after being reduced will expire in March 2025. The 31-year-old had been suspended after testing positive for DHEA, a banned substance that boosts testosterone.

He claimed that the drug was ingested accidentally, and with evidence supporting this his ban was slashed from four years to 18 months. Pogba is still contracted to Juventus, with a contract until June 2026 - but rumours were circulating about whether he would return at all, or if he would be forced to look elsewhere.

Now, seemingly desperate to keep his place with the Bianconeri, Pogba has even suggested that he would play on a reduced salary to get back on the field.

In an interview with Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: “I am ready to return to normal in 2025. I only have one desire, to play football. The reality is that I am a Juve player and I am preparing to play for Juve.

“I don’t have to speak, the pitch will speak and then [manager] Thiago Motta will judge with his own eyes, based on what he sees. I’m ready to give up even money to play for Juve again. I want to come back.

“It was a very difficult year and what hurt the most was spending every day outside the stadium and Continassa [Juventus’ training ground] taking my children to school without being able to go inside to train or play for Juventus.”

The Frenchman added that his dream is to earn himself a place in Didier Deschamps’ national side for the 2026 World Cup in Mexico.
