The Dragons, currently occupying the second spot in Group D have been assured of a play-off spot after earning promotion in the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League.

Rob Page’s side are now hopeful that a runners-up finish would ensure a home-play off in March’s World Cup playoffs.

Wales haven’t qualified for a World Cup since reaching the quarter-finals in Sweden back in 1958. They did reach the semi-finals of the European Championships in 2016 and also got out of the group stages in 2020.

Opponents Belgium meanwhile arrive in South Wales as one of the teams who have assured themselves a place in Qatar next December.

Their 3-1 win over Estonia on Saturday secured top spot having gone unbeaten in their previous seven qualifiers.

They are now hoping to round off their campaign by continuing that streak but face a tricky Wales team.

In the last meeting between the two sides, the Red Devils came out on top 3-1 with Kevin de Bruyne, Thorgan Hazard and Romelu Lukaku all on target after Harry WIlson had opened the scoring.

Joe Allen, Chris Gunter, James Lawrence, Joe Morrell, Aaron Ramsey, Sorba Thomas and Harry Wilson are all available but are at risk of a suspension for the playoffs if they are cautioned tomorrow.

For Belgium, Real Madrid duo Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois returned to Spain, whilst Jason Denayer and Simon Mignolet were also sent back. Jeremy Doku, Michy Batshuayi, Romelu Lukaku, Toby Alderweireld, Thomas Vermaelen and Youri Tielemans were already set to miss the match, meaning a much-changed team from Roberto Martinez.

They have drafted in Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski who could make his first start for his country.

Wales v Belgium match predictions

Despite the multiple absences of numerous Belgium stars, there is still the quality however of the likes of Dries Mertens, Divock Origi, Christian Benteke and Kevin de Bruyne to contend with for Wales.

Add into the mix that Bale is not fully fit, whilst there will be some pressure on Aaron Ramsey to play for a second consecutive match, this will be an intriguing match.

Belgium’s squad is still better than Wales on paper and they’ll be favourites for this one. The pride they are playing for is to ensure an unbeaten end to their campaign which will prepare them for the tournament.
