The FA Women’s League Cup final takes place this weekend as Chelsea and Manchester City face off to lift the silverware.

Both sides have had great success in this competition’s 11-year history with City looking to lift the trophy for a fourth time.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have won the past two finals and are looking for a record equalling third win in a row, replicating the feet that Arsenal achieved between 2011 and 2013.

The 2022 Women’s FA League Cup final takes place on Saturday, March 5 with a scheduled kick off time of 17:15 (UK time).

The final will be played at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, better known as Plough Lane, which is the home of EFL side AFC Wimbledon and has a capacity of 9,215.

It is the first time the stadium has hosted the fixture.

The match will be broadcast on BBC2 as a live “Match of the Day” special with build up starting at 17:00.

The match can also be streamed live through the BBC Iplayer.

Who has won the most FA Women’s League Cup titles?

Arsenal have been the most successful side in the history of the Women’s League Cup, having won the competition five times.

The first ever final was played in 2011 with the Gunners beating Birmingham City 4-1 and the same teams met again the next year with Arsenal winning 1-0.

The Gunners then beat Lincoln City in 2013 to make it three in a row before Manchester City won their first title by dethroning them in 2014.

Arsenal and City traded the trophy back and forth for the next three yeas before Chelsea became just the third team to lift it in 2020 by beating Arsenal in the the final.

The Blues then won the 2021 final by beating Bristol City and are looking to make it three in a row this weekend.

Chelsea made it to the 2022 Women’s League Cup final by beating Manchester United 3-1 in their semi-final.

Pernille Harder, Jessie Fleming and Jessica Carter scored the goals to secure their spot in the showpiece event.

Prior to that they had to overcome West Ham United in the quarter-finals having received a bye from the group stages due to their involvement in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Manchester City did have to compete in the group stage and finished top of Group B which featured Manchester United, Everton, Leicester City and Durham.

The beat Bristol City in their quarter-final before overcoming Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in their semi-final with Jessica Park, Khadija Shaw and Lauren Hemp getting the goals that sent them through to this weekend’s final.
