It has been a riveting Masters Tournament so far, and we are now heading into the final day of action.
There have been narratives aplenty, including the return of Tiger Woods during this competitions, but meanwhile, the world’s number one has climbed to the top of the leaderboard.
Scottie Scheffler takes pole position into the final day with a -9, leading Cameron Smith by three shots, with the Australian on -6.
Im Sung-Jae is also in the mix, posting a -4 so far, but here we focus on the leader Scheffler and his life and career so far.
Take a look below.
Who is Scottie Scheffler?
Scottie Scheffler is a 25-year-old American golfer from Ridewood, Ner Jersey.
He stands at 6ft3” and after four amateur wins as a youngster, he graduated to professional golf in 2018 before earning his Tour card in 2019.
Career so far
Since earning his PGA Tour card, Scheffler has won three competitions, including the WM Phoenix Open, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
All three of those wins have come in 2022, and he has also racked up three wins across the European and Korn Ferry Tours.
He was also part of USA’s Ryder Cup win in 2021.
Scheffler’s performances over the last year or so have earned him the number one ranking with the PGA.
He posted in at number one at the end of March, and he remains there after two weeks.
Scheffler’s wife is Meredith Scudder.
The couple grew up in Texas and are said to have dated during high school and remained together through university despite attending rival colleges.
Scheffler proposed to his high school sweetheart in 2018 while out hiking in the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and they tied the knot in 2020.
At the last estimate, Scheffler was said to be worth $4 million, but that estimate came before the 2021 Ryder Cup success and his subsequent rise to the top of the rankings.
As per Golf Monthly, his PGA winnings total $13 million, and much of those earnings came after his last net worth earnings.
