If Kate Kane gives birth abroad, she will be following in the footsteps of Victoria Beckham who had son Cruz in Spain

I know the hearts of Tottenham Hotspur fans are breaking everywhere as Harry Kane heads to Bayern Munich to complete his medical ahead of signing for the club, but there could be more heartbreak ahead. Harry Kane and his wife Kate announced that they were expecting their fourth child earlier this year, which could mean he/she could be born in Germany, and be eligible to apply for citizenship and, dare I write it, well yes, I will, potentially could even play for the country in the future!

Now, although I am sure that won’t be the case (as in Harry Kane’s son or daughter playing for Germany), he does follow in the footsteps of other well-known footballers whose wives have given birth abroad. The most well known is of course Victoria Beckham who gave birth to Cruz in Madrid in 2005.

Cruz Beckham was born at the Ruber Internacional hospital in Madrid and of course was given a Spanish name, the name Cruz means ‘cross’ in Spanish. David Beckham was playing for Real Madrid at the time and stayed there for four seasons. In 2015, the couple reportedly sold the Madrid home they first put on the market eight years before, and are said to have made a £1 million profit on it.

Gareth Bale, who played for nine years for Real Madrid, is the father to four children, daughters Alba Violet and Nava Valentina, and sons Axel Charles and Zander Frank. It has been reported that his wife Emma gave birth to their third child Axel Charles in Spain.

Harry Kane and his wife Kate’s three other children are called Ivy, Vivienne Jane and Louis. I would hazard a guess that even if Katie does give birth in Germany, they will continue to opt for a more traditional British name, rather than choose a German one.

I would even go as far as to say that even if Harry and Kate's child does apply for German citizenship in the future, and makes it as a professional footballer in the future and is talented enough to play for England, I am sure that he and she will choose England over Germany. Here's hoping!
