The Hundred, which was due to commence in 2020, stormed the stage last summer and soon enthralled thousands of fans to either their screen or their nearest Cricket Ground to watch the best players from around the world feature in the inaugural tournament.

James Vince’s Southern Brave won the men’s tournament while Dane Van Niekerk’s Oval Invincibles took the first ever Women’s Trophy.

Cricketing fans were treated to an astonishing display from Birmingham Phoenix’s Liam Livingstone who scored an unbelievable 348 runs in 195 balls throughout the tournament while India’s Jemimah Rodrigues hit the headlines and became a household name after her 249 runs in 165 balls.

Here is all you need to know about The Hundred deadline day…

When is deadline day for retaining players?

The deadline day is today, 22 February 2022.

What happens next?

The male players how have not been retained will go into a draft on 30 March, and the women’s franchises are now free to sign whoever they wish, with the signings announced on the same day as the men.

Is deadline day different for the Men and Women’s franchises?

The women are able to retain as many players as they wish. This could mean that the same 15 players will feature in the franchise as in 2021.

The men’s squads are slightly different. They are able to retain up to 10 players who will be across seven different wage bands.
