Lisa Vanderpump announces the death of her father John on Instagram, saying she is "broken hearted"

Reality TV personality Lisa Vanderpump announced that her father John Vanderpump has died as she paid tribute to him.

Lisa, who is the star of American reality show “Vanderpump Rules”, shared the news with her fans on her Instagram page on Wednesday (July 3).

Announcing the news, “The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” veteran shared a photo of herself and her father in happy times. In the caption, the 63-year-old, she wrote: “I will miss you daddy . . . Broken-hearted. Rest in peace.” She has not said what her father’s cause of death was.

Her daughter Pandora Vanderpump Sabo, aged 39, acknowledged her grandfather's death in the comments section of Lisa's post by sharing a heart emoji. The post was also met with many other messages of condolence from Lisa’s loved ones and also her fans. Actress Gretchen Rossi shared two red heart emojis and two prayer emojis while fellow housewife of Beverly Hills Teresa Giudice said: “So sorry for your loss.” TV host Mario Lopez posted two red heart emojis.

One fan said: “I’m so sorry for your loss, Lisa. May your dad’s memory be a blessing.” Another said: “Sending love and strength Lisa.”

Lisa may be one of the most recognisable faces in American reality television, but she actually grew up in London, UK. She is the youngest child of John and Jean Vanderpump. The family lived in Dulwich, south London, where her father worked as a creative advertising director.

Lisa, who appeared on “The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” between 2010 and 2019, told the DailyMail.com in a previous interview many years ago: “My parents gave me a great upbringing but they didn’t give me anything financially, so I’ve always had autonomy in my life.”

John’s death comes five years after the death of his wife Jean, and six years after the death of his son, and Lisa’s elder brother, Mark. Mark Vanderpump, who was a DJ and businessman, died of suicide at the age of 59.

“Vanderpump Rules” has been running for more than 10 years, after the first series aired in 2013. . Developed as the first spin-off from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, it has now aired eleven seasons and focuses on Lisa Vanderpump and the staff at her restaurants and bars: SUR Restaurant and Lounge, Pump Restaurant, and Tom Tom Restaurant and Bar, in West Hollywood, California.

The show has been a huge success, and has had three spin-offs of it’s own; “Vanderpump Rules After Show”, “Vanderpump Rules: Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky” and “The Valley”. But, despite the show’s longevity Lisa still fears that it could still end at any time. Speaking to Us Weekly, she said: “Every year I think, "Oh, this is gonna be the last year."

Earlier this month, Lisa revealed that “Vanderpump Rules” is taking a break for a while as she has a new restaurant to open. Speaking to E! News about the future of the show, Lisa shared: ''Vanderpump Rules' is on hiatus just for a little bit. Let it breathe. I think we were going around in circles for a little bit.” She coninued: “I have a restaurant to open in September, so I have to be full-steam ahead on that. I was away just before I opened Wolf working with Gordon [Ramsay]. That put a lot of pressure on us. I really need a couple of months to do that now.”

At the time, she also said that she’s keen to have a break herself. She said: “It's been a very busy year, three shows on the air and two restaurants to open. I wouldn't mind a breath myself.”

Reality TV is in the Vanderpump’s blood as Lisa’s nephew, 26-year-old Sam Vanderpump, who lives in Fulham, London, is a current star of “Made in Chelsea”.
