Metin Arolat dead at 52: Singer dies after collapsing during live performance

Metin Arolat was a singer and music video director, who was reportedly ‘performing through pain,” before collapsing and dying.

Turkish singer Metin Arolat  was taking part in a live performance in Kozyatağı in Istanbul when he collapsed on stage. According to Gulf News, “The 52-year-old artist collapsed on stage after performing through pain, with friends suspecting his health was compromised by a strict diet, according to local media reports.

“Despite experiencing pain and numbness in his hand, Arolat continued with the performance but suffered a heart attack on stage. A nurse in the audience rushed to his aid and called 911. Despite the efforts of doctors, Arolat died on the way to hospital.”

Demet Sagiroglu, a close friend of Metin Arolat said outside the hospital “He was very close to me, like a brother. He was on a diet... I don’t think his heart could take it. It got worse after he went on stage.”

Following his death, many fans have paid tribute to him on social media. One fan said: “Watching your post with laughter before going to bed and waking up to the news of your death. Beautiful voice of the 90s, beautiful person. Rest in peace, may God grant him paradise.”

Actress Tuna Arman said: “I always loved you so much, good people leave early, I understand once again my beautiful heart.. So happy, you went to the happiest place, and met your mother… rest in peace I love you.”

Seda Sayan said: “Oh my Text, I worked with you the most. I can’t even remember how many commercials we shot. The world’s most naive, most sincere, most secret-keeping friend. Rest in peace.”
